1975: Photos from Camp Pendleton

Hand of Hope statue in Camp Pendleton, California.
Camp Pendleton was one of four refugee camps America organized in the Spring of 1975. Marines had 36 hours to set up tents, toilets, and showers for tens of thousands of refugees who escaped South Vietnam. The other camps were at Fort Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and Fort Chaffee in Arkansas.
On a trip to LA, my family and I visited a photography exhibit on base. Photos are courtesy of Camp Pendleton Archives.
